About the Writer

Emily graduated from the King’s College NYC with a Bachelors in English Literature in 2022. After taking a year long career detour where she explored trades, such as landscaping and pipefitting, she gradually found herself feeling creatively unfulfilled in her workplace.

Emily always knew she was meant to write, yet hadn’t taken the leap to fully commit herself to a career of writing. Since the second grade, she has been creating stories and sharing them with anyone around her willing to read them. Her first series of stories starred FlufferDoodle, the neon yellow monster who entertained her second grade class and teachers for twelve whole books (crafted carefully and lovingly out of printer paper and staples, mind you). From then on, Emily was determined to become a skilled writer and publish her own books one day.

That dream came true during her Senior year of college, when she was given an opportunity to publish a book with New Degree Press. “On a Day Far From Death & Other Poems,” focuses on the details of life and the beauty and inspiration Emily draws from them. After graduating, Emily returned to Vermont and met the love of her life, Jacob. They married a little after a year upon first meeting.

During their honeymoon in California, in the midst of feeling torn about her career choices, Emily met an artist who inspired her to chase what she truly loved: writing. When she returned to Vermont with her husband, she quit her full-time job and set out to make a career out of freelance writing.

When not writing, Emily enjoys spending her time in nature, reading the best of fiction, exploring farmers markets around Vermont, illustrating, and hanging out with her husband and their beloved hairless cat, Lugnut.
